Biography

Je m'appelle Miguel Ramirez. Je suis né en 1978 et je vis à l'île de la Réunion, une ile française à côté de Madagascar, dans l'Océan Indien. Passionné par la mer depuis mon enfance, je souhaite à travers mes photos vous partager les merveilles sous-marines qui nous entourent. 
Mettre en valeur la richesse des espèces qui y vivent est un moyen de sensibiliser et protéger ce monde aquatique.

Toujours avec mon appareil photo quand je vais à l'eau, je suis passionné par toutes les espèces (nudibranches, coraux, poissons, baleines...), dans n'importe quelle situation (lagon, bassin rocheux, pleine mer, plongée de nuit..) et tout style de photographies (macro, grand angle, comportement animalier, blackwater, artistique ...)

J'ai commencé mes premières bulles en plongée en 1996, puis la photo sous-marine en 2014. D'abord avec un simple compact Olympus TG, puis divers accessoires pour me perfectionner (caisson, flashs, lentilles macro et grand angle). Apres avoir exploité au maximum les capacités des compacts TG, et remporté de nombreux concours internationaux dans cette catégorie, je décide de passer un cap en 2022 : j'utilise dorénavant un appareil reflexe (Nikon D500), qui me permet d'explorer de nouveaux champs dans la photographie sous-marine.

Grand passionné, je cherche en permanence à m'améliorer et à mettre en valeur les sujets magnifiques que je rencontre sous l'eau. Aussi, j'adore voyager et découvrir les fonds marins partout dans le monde.

My name is Miguel Ramirez. I was born in 1978 and I live on Reunion Island, a French island near Madagascar, in the Indian Ocean. Passionate about the sea since my childhood, I wish through my photos to share with you the underwater wonders that surround us.

Highlighting the richness of the species that live there is a way to raise awareness and protect this aquatic world.
Always with my camera when I go to the water, I am passionate about all species (nudibranchs, corals, fish, whales...), in any situation (lagoon, pool rock, ocean, night ..) and any style of photography (macro, wide angle, behavior, blackwater, artistic ...)

I started my first diving bubbles in 1996, then underwater photography in 2014. First with a simple Olympus TG compact, then various accessories to improve my skills (housing, strobes, macro and wide-angle lenses). After having fully exploited the capacities of the TG compacts, and won many international competitions in this category, I decided to take a step forward in 2022 : I now use a reflex camera (Nikon D500), which allows me to explore new fields in underwater photography.

Great enthusiast, I constantly seek to improve myself and to highlight the magnificent subjects that I encounter under water. Also, I love traveling and discovering the sea life all over the world.
